About Paul Kim
Paul Kim is a husband, father of three adorable kids, an entrepreneur and real estate investor with a passion to help real estate professionals. He loves the business of real estate and leveraging technology and social media to gain market visibility. He is a living example that if you set your mind on pursuing your goals, you can achieve!
Prior to becoming a full-time investor, Paul graduated from Rutgers Law School and worked as an attorney. He got his start in real estate by working as a mortgage consultant and investing in real estate part-time. In 2008, he pulled the trigger and decided to work real estate full-time. Since then, Paul along with Segis Group, LLC has completed hundreds of real estate transactions. Since 2008, Paul has successfully assisted homeowners, investors, agents and attorneys to navigate their way through the foreclosure process, more particularly short sales.
I am an average asian-american living in Northern New Jersey. I am a husband, father of three adorable kids, an entrepreneur and real estate investor with a passion to help people. I am a living example that if you set your mind on pursuing your goals, you can achieve! I am not a millionaire nor do I drive a fancy car. I am certainly not a guru. But I do love what I do everyday.
I currently assist homeowners, investors, agents and attorneys to navigate their way through the foreclosure process, more particularly short sales. Since 2008, I’ve helped hundreds of homeowners sell their house and get a fresh start with their lives. At the same time, I’ve taken the load of investors, agents and attorneys from the time-consuming task of processing and negotiating short sales.
My Story
I was working as an attorney working 60-70 hours a week, I hated waking up every morning and dreaded going to work to enter my “cubicle” room with piles of paperwork around me. Can you relate? Well, I think it was a blessing in disguise because I got laid off due to merger.
I knew I needed to change my career because I didn’t want to work for someone else nor work long hours. I came across the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” which changed my perspective on the way I look at the world. I then went with a friend of mine to a Robert Allen free real estate seminar and signed up for a $3,995 course (with my partner). I tried to get my friend to go along with me for the journey but he decided not to. So off I went on a solo journey.
By no means, I am not an expert or consider myself to be where I want to be. Believe me I’ve made a LOT of mistakes and spent well over $25,000 plus with so called gurus! After hundreds of real estate transactions and selling off most of my “negative” rental portfolio except for a handful of “positive” assets. I did learn this business by school of hard knock.
Why this Online Resource and Blog?
10 years ago I think there was not a lot of information publicly available and you have to rely on seminars and so called gurus to “teach” you the business. But now with the internet and the ability for anyone to put a blog or website together, there is now I believe too much information flowing around.
I went to a workshop held by Glen Gallucci back in 2009 and simply applied what he taught. Guess what … it worked and it was only less than $500. From 2011 to 2018, I assisted Glen Gallucci to co-organize NJREIGroup. With his leadership and mentorship, I have gained valuable insight into the New Jersey and New York real estate markets. During that time, I gain valuable technical knowledge in marketing as well as building a community.
I want to be as transparent as possible thus I don’t have all the answers. I wish I can tell a newbie person that is interested in real estate investing that you can get an ebook or and become a real estate investor within a couple of months. I wish I can tell a newbie person that you can go to a $10,000 seminar and become a millionaire in a short timeframe. But that is not how REAL business works. It takes REAL WORK.
There are so much information available that I think … well let me rephrase that … I know that most people are in analysis paralysis mode. I am here to try to simplify and maybe even give you a step by step process to get you going in the right path. Is there a right way … NO … but any path is better than no path.
I am not here to regurgitate the same material that may be available somewhere else. If I find that there are good resources elsewhere, I will direct you to that resource.
